A safe, welcoming, and physician-led space in Harvard Square
At Radiant Laser MD in Cambridge, MA, we understand that transitioning is a deeply personal and transformative journey. Your experience is unique, and so are your needs. That is why we offer specialized laser hair removal services tailored specifically for transgender individuals. Our goal is to support you every step of the way, helping you achieve the smooth, hair-free skin you desire.
We know that transitioning can be both exciting and challenging. Our team is here to make the process easier by providing compassionate and understanding care. Whether you are in the early stages of your transition or further along, we offer a safe, welcoming environment where you can feel comfortable and respected. Radiant Laser MD is co-founded by Harvard-fellowship-trained physician Dr. Dean M. Cestari, MD and senior aesthetician Alba Cestari, and we treat every patient with the same clinical rigor and personal warmth.
Long-lasting hair reduction that aligns your appearance with your true self
Laser hair removal can be an essential part of your transition, helping you align your physical appearance with your true self. Our advanced laser platforms, the Cynosure Elite iQ and the Candela GentleMax Pro, target unwanted hair at the follicle to provide long-lasting reduction that makes you feel more confident and comfortable in your skin.
Unlike shaving, waxing, or plucking, laser reduction is progressive and permanent. Most patients see visible thinning after two or three sessions, and full clearance in six to ten sessions depending on the area, your hair color, and your treatment goals. For facial hair (a top priority for many MTF patients), we build a longer-term maintenance plan that fits your budget and schedule.

We recognize that every individual's needs are different. That is why we offer personalized treatment plans that cater to your specific goals and skin type. During your free consultation, our experienced clinicians will work with you to create a plan that best suits your needs, ensuring that you achieve the best possible results.
We ask about your transition stage, HRT status, medications, and any prior laser or electrolysis work. That way we can set realistic expectations for session count, spacing, and full clearance timing before you spend a dollar.
Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. Our state-of-the-art laser platforms are FDA-cleared and suitable for a full range of skin tones and types. Our highly trained clinicians have extensive experience working with transgender clients and are dedicated to providing the highest level of care.
For darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV through VI), we use the Candela GentleMax Pro with the Nd:YAG 1064 nm wavelength, the gold standard for safe laser hair removal on melanated skin. For lighter and finer hair we use the Cynosure Elite iQ with real-time Skintel melanin measurement for a custom energy profile.
Discreet scheduling, chosen names, and pronouns honored throughout
We understand that privacy is crucial during your transition. At Radiant Laser MD, your confidentiality is our commitment. Our appointments are scheduled with your comfort in mind, and we take every step to ensure that your experience is private, respectful, and discreet.
Chosen names and pronouns are used in every interaction, from scheduling to consent forms. If you prefer a specific clinician, a private waiting area, or a quieter time slot (early morning or late Thursday), just ask when you book.

That is why we are here to support you, offering not just treatment, but understanding, respect, and genuine care.
Our team stays current on trans health continuing education and works with local providers, gender-affirming surgeons, and community groups. If you need a referral or letter regarding preoperative hair removal for gender-affirming surgery, ask us at your consultation.

Honest answers to the questions we hear most from our trans patients
Yes. Radiant Laser MD is a proudly LGBTQ+ welcoming and affirming practice. Chosen names and pronouns are used at every step, from scheduling to consent forms to the treatment room. Every clinician on our team has training and experience treating trans and nonbinary patients.
Facial hair is typically the most stubborn area because it is hormone-driven. Most MTF patients see meaningful reduction after four to six sessions and reach the clearance goal after eight to twelve sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. A maintenance session once or twice a year keeps you smooth long term.
Yes. We use the Candela GentleMax Pro with the Nd:YAG 1064 nm wavelength for darker skin (Fitzpatrick IV through VI), the gold standard for safe laser hair removal on melanated skin. For lighter skin and finer hair we use the Cynosure Elite iQ with the FDA-cleared Skintel melanin reader to personalize settings to your exact skin.
Yes. HRT does not prevent laser hair removal, and many patients start laser after beginning HRT because it slows regrowth on treated areas. Let your clinician know your current medications and estrogen or testosterone status so we can plan session spacing and areas accordingly.
Yes. We work with local gender-affirming surgeons and can plan your laser sessions to prepare the donor and graft sites for procedures such as vaginoplasty, phalloplasty, and metoidioplasty. Bring your surgeon's timeline to the consultation and we will map out a session plan.
Yes. If you prefer a quieter appointment time, a specific clinician, or a private waiting area, ask us when you book. Early morning, late Thursday (until 7:00 PM), and Saturday slots are often the quietest at our Cambridge studio.
Prices are per treatment. Small areas like the upper lip or chin start at $50. Full-face bundles start at $95, and full-body-plus-face bundles are $599 per treatment. See our full pricing on the prices page. Package discounts are available on series of six or more sessions.
Laser hair removal is cosmetic and typically paid out of pocket. Some insurance plans cover preoperative hair removal for gender-affirming surgery, and our team can provide the documentation your insurer requires (CPT codes, letter of medical necessity, dates of service).
Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment (do not wax, thread, or pluck for four weeks before). Avoid direct sun and self-tanner for two weeks before. Bring a list of current medications and let us know if you are on HRT so we can plan the safest, most effective treatment.
Yes. Support people are welcome at your consultation and can wait in our reception area during treatment. Your comfort matters, and we are happy to accommodate whatever helps you feel safe and at ease.
